About
Here For You
Welcome to Make a Change Therapy. My name is Jodie Vernon. I am an integrative child, teenage and adult therapist registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapists.
I achieved a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education in 2000 and went on to work in Primary Education for 20 years.
My experience began working with children in school from the ages of 5-11 using Play and Art Therapy to help the children explore their feelings in a safe and familiar environment to help the child reach their full potential. I have worked with children who have had family members with mental illness, children who have experienced trauma, who have been fostered and children with ASD. Regulating emotions is something children often need help with if they have had trauma or attachment issues. This needs to be taught and shown so that they can learn to cope with their everyday life.
I have also worked with teenagers who are feeling the stresses and strains of the modern world. We are seeing more and more teenagers seeking therapy as they struggle with exam pressure, social pressures and social media.
My work with adults is broad but I have specialised with drug and alcohol abuse and domestic abuse. Whether working with adults or children - my approach is in the main, person-centred, keeping my client's needs at the forefront and allowing them to be autonomous in sessions.
